When a community faces complex challenges like Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), a short-term, high-intensity effort can be the catalyst for long-term change. This was the story of the 100-Day Challenge in Lekwa, where a dedicated team focused on pillar 4 of the NSP-GBVF increasing the number of support services that survivors of GBV actually receive.

Their ambition was not just to raise awareness but to fundamentally change the way the community tackles child neglect and sexual abuse, aiming for a staggering 60% reduction.

Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is not merely addressing Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF); it’s staging a cultural intervention. Through its 100-Day Challenge, the Faculty of Arts and Design’s research area is demonstrating the value of art and performance towards addressing GBVF. Their goal is to create and publish 100 pieces of art and performance every day for 100 days; to shift perceptions and create a space for open, honest dialogue about deeply sensitive issues. They are using artivism, the fusion of art and activism, to achieve real, personal, and collective transformation.

In the work to end Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), lasting change requires fast implementation, tied in with strong community partnerships. Drakenstein Municipality embraced this philosophy, setting out to reduce the incidence of GBVF in their community by focusing on education and support. They have not only met their initial goals but have created permanent support avenues for survivors.

The Challenge produced clear, measurable results across all areas. Direct support was provided to more than 10 survivors. This included counselling, mentorship, and legal aid. The College also recorded 25 GBVF-related cases. These involved assault, rape, and bullying.

Majuba’s 100-Day Project delivered immediate, quantifiable results across key areas of intervention. Twenty-three GBVF-related reports were formally recorded, and all received appropriate intervention and follow-up. This indicates increased trust in the new reporting channels.

As the 2025 – End GBVF 100-Day Challenge comes to a close, the Nkowankowa Magistrate Court is proud to report on its efforts and significant achievements.
The court’s mission was clear: to directly address Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) by tackling the very system that victims rely on for justice.

The 100-Day Challenge in Smithfield demonstrates how community commitment and collaboration can strengthen the justice system and restore faith in processes meant to protect survivors of GBVF. Anchored under Pillar 3: Justice, Safety and Protection of the NSP on GBVF, the Smithfield Youth Desk set a goal to ensure that no GBVF cases were withdrawn during the 100-Day Challenge period.

Northlink College is participating in the End GBVF 100-Day Challenge with the intention of creating an environment where students are better informed about GBVF, more confident to report incidents, and supported through practical systems across all seven campuses.

Boland TVET College’s “Reset 100” End GBVF 100-Day Challenge has made a measurable impact on its student body and campus culture. Having just passed the halfway point, the team is still in the process of establishing a final SMURF goal.
