What happens at a 100-Day Challenge Start-up Workshop?

The Start-up Workshop is where the 100-Day Challenge team comes together for the first time. Together they explore the focus area and agree on what they want to achieve over the next 100 days. The workshop creates the foundation for how the team will work together and what kind of impact they want to make in the lives of survivors.

The day usually starts with a welcome and warm-up session. This helps people get to know each other and creates an environment where everyone can participate openly. Teams then spend time clarifying the challenge and unpacking what a 100-Day Challenge is. This includes understanding why the approach focuses on speed, collaboration and breakthrough thinking rather than long-term planning processes.

One of the most important parts of the workshop is setting the 100-Day Goal. Teams develop a SMURF goal that is Strategic, Measurable, Unreasonable, Results-orientated and Fast. The focus is always on survivor impact and improving how systems respond to people who need support.

The team also develops a work plan that maps out activities, responsibilities and immediate next steps. This helps move the challenge from ideas into action. Alongside the work plan, the group agrees on a team agreement that guides how members will communicate, collaborate and hold each other accountable during the 100 days.

Before closing, teams present feedback to the Challenge Strategist and leaders. This creates alignment, strengthens support and ensures everyone leaves with clarity on the way forward.
